There’s currently one overnight train with a first-class carriage departing Bangkok for Chiang Mai. The train departs in the evening and arrives in Chiang Mai the following morning, making it a great way to relax and sleep while traveling. The total journey time is typically around 12-13 hours.

First-class tickets are unsurprisingly more expensive than other options. Expect to pay between 1753-1903 Thai Baht (roughly 48-53 USD) per person. The price can vary depending on whether you choose the upper or lower berth in the cabin.
